Summary
PagePress captures and marks up web pages, in Chrome, Firefox and Safari. It runs entirely inside your browser, on the page you are currently viewing, and only when you click the toolbar icon or press the keyboard shortcut. The extension does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any browsing data, page content, or personal information. There are no analytics, no telemetry, and no network requests to any server: the extension has no server to talk to.
All of that is about the extension. This website is a separate thing. It uses Google Analytics, which runs only if you accept it and is switched off until you do. Its support form, which you can reach from the popup's Report bug button, receives what you type when you press Send. Neither is part of the extension.
What stays on your device
Everything the extension handles. A capture is assembled from the page's pixels entirely in local browser memory, converted to PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF, and either downloaded to your computer or copied to your clipboard. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. Uninstalling the extension removes everything it stored; files you have already downloaded are yours and stay where you saved them.
On Firefox and Safari, the finished capture is also kept in the extension's own IndexedDB storage on your device, because both browsers pause the extension's background page when it sits idle (Firefox after 30 seconds) and would otherwise lose the image before you save it. That copy never leaves the device. It is deleted when you take a new capture, when the captured tab is reloaded, navigated or closed, and when the browser starts. Captures of tabs in a private window are never written to it.
Marking up a page
AI Markup lets you annotate the live page and then copy the whole review as a prompt for an AI coding agent. So that each note says which part of the page it is about, it reads the text you select, the visible text and CSS selector of the element you mark, the selectors of a few of the elements around it, the page's title and address, and the size of the window.
That information is used in only three places. When you press Copy prompt, it is placed on your clipboard as text. When you send the review to the editor, it waits in the browser's own session storage while the editor tab opens, and is cleared as soon as the editor collects it, or when you close that tab before it does. In the editor, it is drawn onto a capture that you save or copy yourself. It is never transmitted anywhere, and the extension has nowhere to transmit it to.
Where the prompt goes after it is on your clipboard is up to you. Pasting it into a hosted AI tool sends it to whoever runs that tool, under their privacy policy rather than this one.
What is stored locally
PagePress uses the browser's storage API to remember your
last-used output format, quality, capture scale and annotation settings,
and, after an update, which version's release note is waiting to be
shown. This is kept in local storage on the device it was set on. It
does not use your browser's sync feature, so it never leaves that device
and does not follow you to another one. It is preference data, not usage
data, and PagePress never reads or reports it anywhere else.
Permissions, and why each is needed

The install itself requests no host permissions. PagePress cannot read or act on any page until you invoke it.

This website
This website, pagepress.cyburdine.com, is separate from the extension and is treated separately here. It carries no advertising and sells no data.
Like most web servers, it keeps an access log of each request: your IP address, the time, the page requested, the referring page and your browser's user agent. The site is served through Cloudflare, which handles that traffic on its way to the server. These logs are kept to run the site and are deleted by the server's routine log rotation. They are a server-side record, they do not involve cookies, and they are kept whether or not you accept analytics below.
Analytics and cookies
The website uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are read. It runs only if you accept it.
Nothing loads until you choose. On your first visit the site asks. Until you press Accept, no Google script is fetched, no request is made to Google, and no analytics cookie is set. Press Reject and none of that ever happens; the choice is remembered in your browser's local storage so you are not asked again. You can change your mind at any time through Cookie settings in the footer of any page, and choosing Reject there deletes the analytics cookies already in your browser.
If you accept, Google Analytics collects: the pages you view and when, the page that referred you, your approximate location derived from your IP address, and your device, browser and screen size. It stores a randomly generated identifier in the cookies below, which lets Google recognise the same browser across visits. Google truncates the IP address as it is collected, and this site does not send Google your name, your email address or anything you type into the support form.

Data collected by Google Analytics is processed by Google, including in the United States, under Google's privacy terms, and is retained under the retention period set for this property. The legal basis for this processing in the EU and UK is your consent, which is why nothing runs before you give it. Besides the choice on this site, you can block analytics with Google's opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies or scripts in your browser.
The PagePress extension is not part of any of this. It has no analytics, makes no network requests, and is unaffected by whichever choice you make here.
The support form
The support form is on this website rather than in the extension, and collects the following when you send it:
- Your name (required), your email address (optional), the category you pick, and your message. The server then generates a short random reference for the submission, which the form shows you once the submission has gone through.
- The address of the support page itself, which is sent along with the form.
- A Cloudflare Turnstile check, which tells people from bots. It runs in your browser as soon as the support page loads, and collects technical signals about the browser under Cloudflare's Turnstile privacy policy. To confirm the check, the server sends Cloudflare the check's result token and your IP address.
- Your IP address, held in the server's memory for up to an hour to limit each address to five submissions an hour. The form never writes it to disk, and it is gone when the hour passes or the service restarts.
A submission then goes to two places:
- A GitHub issue on the PagePress repository, containing your message, the category you picked, the address of the support page and that random reference. It does not contain your name or your email address. The repository is currently private, so the issue is visible to the maintainer and to anyone the maintainer has given access to the repository, and it is stored by GitHub. The issue is written this way so that opening the repository to the public would still publish nothing about you. Submissions sent before 2026-09-21 were filed differently: the name, and the email address if one was given, were in the issue itself. If you sent one of those, you can have it deleted using the address below.
- An email notification to the maintainer, sent through Google Workspace's mail relay. This is the only place your name and your email address go. It carries the same reference, which is how the maintainer matches an issue back to the person who sent it, and a link to the issue. If the relay refuses that email, the server writes your name, your address and the reference to its own private error log instead, so that the submission can still be answered. That log is on the server, is not published anywhere, and is deleted along with the rest of a submission when you ask.
Nothing from the form is sold, shared for advertising, or used for anything other than answering you and improving PagePress. Issues and notification emails are kept until they are deleted, which you can ask for at any time.
To have a submission deleted, or to ask what is held about you, email [email protected] with the reference the form showed you, or with the name you used and roughly when you sent it. The GitHub issue, the notification email and any line the server logged about it will all be deleted.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change with it. Material changes will also be reflected in the extension's store listings.
